Northern hosts Hancock Thursday

ACCIDENT — Northern welcomes Hancock to Half-Mile High Stadium tonight in search of its first win.

The Huskies (0-2), coming off a 40-24 defeat to Albert Gallatin, are looking to lift Logan Stewart to his maiden head coaching victory when they take on Hancock (0-2) tonight at 7 p.m.

Northern leads the all-time head-to-head with the Panthers, 20-1, and have won seven in a row. The Huskies won last year’s matchup 49-6 at Hancock on Sept. 20.

Hancock’s lone victory in the matchup came on Nov. 11, 1995, when the Huskies fell 12-6 in Accident.

Northern has outscored Hancock, 235-6, over the last five meetings.

Northern, which fell to Fort Hill, 27-0, in Week 1, is coming off a defeat to Albert Gallatin in which it out-gained the Colonials, 313-246.

Emmitt Lipscomb rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. Caleb Hinebaugh had 15 carries for 77 yards, Landon Yoder ran it 11 times for 62 yards and a touchdown, and Evan Graham added 46 yards and a score on the ground.

Yoder leads the Huskies with 131 rushing yards through two games. Hinebaugh tops the defense with 16 tackles.

Hancock was shut out by Southern, 49-0, last week. The Rams (1-1) led 36-0 at halftime. Reece Tasker scored three touchdowns.
