Seahawks star JSN earns distinction from PFF for play in Week 2
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba earned a place on Pro Football Focus’ Week 2 Team of the Week after delivering a career-best performance in Seattle’s 31-7 road victory over the Arizona Cardinals.
Smith-Njigba was one of two receivers named to the team after catching nine of 11 targets for 155 yards and three touchdowns. His performance included eight receiving first downs and an average of 6.46 yards per route run.
The reigning AP Offensive Player of the Year caught every touchdown pass thrown by quarterback Drew Lock, who made his first start of the season in place of the injured Sam Darnold. Smith-Njigba broke the game open with an 82-yard scoring reception in the first quarter and came up with key play after key play that helped Seattle gain an advantage over Arizona in the NFC West picture.
The selection followed another productive showing from Smith-Njigba in Seattle’s opener, where the superstar receiver recorded eight receptions for 122 yards and a touchdown against New England.
Through two games, Smith-Njigba has caught 17 passes for 277 yards and four touchdowns. His early production has established him as the league’s top receiver, and with everything he accomplished in Week 2, one of the highlight players of the week.
