Republic of Ireland trail Hungary 2-0 at half time in the opening match of their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin.
It has been a nightmare start for the hosts, falling behind after just two minutes from a Barnabas Varga strike. A Roland Sallai header doubled the Hungarian advantage with a quarter of an hour played.
Evan Ferguson did force a save from Dénes Dibusz late in the first half, but Heimir Hallgrímsson's side has a lot of work to do.
