UCLA football eyes Cal safety commit in 2027 recruiting class

California safety commit Myles Baker visited the UCLA Bruins over the weekend and had praise for the Bruins over his experience with head coach Bob Chesney, according to On3 Rivals.

Baker’s from Sierra Canyon High School in Chatsworth, Calif. and will enter the 2027 recruiting class as a four-star recruit, according to 247Sports. The site also ranks Baker as the the 218th best National player in the class, the 20th ranked safety and the 18th ranked player coming out of California.

According to 247Sports, the 6-foot-1-inch safety played at Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas in 2023 before moving to Sierra Canyon High School. Baker had 101 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 12 pass breakups, three interceptions, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and a sack over his 2024 and 2025 seasons.

Baker was offered by 26 schools, but hard committed to the California Golden Bears. Now, it appears that Chesney is looking to improve his intriguing 2027 recruiting class.

Greg Biggens of On3 Rivals covered Bakers visit over the weekend and highlighted the defensive back’s impression of Chesney and the Bruins.

“I really connected with coach Chesney, he’s an unbelievable guy,” Baker said, according to Biggens.

UCLA currently has 21 recruits in 2027 with eight four-star recruits and 12 three-star recruits, according to ESPN as of June 9. The Bruins currently have four defensive backs committed to their 2027 recruiting class with two four star safeties, Pole Moala and Khalil Terry.
