Zach McKinstry leaves Tigers' 2-1 victory with injury

It was a rough night physically for Zach McKinstry.

He got tangled up with Royals Jac Caglianone at third base in the third inning and wrenched his shoulder. He stayed in the game but in the seventh, Caglianone, who was running to third, tripped McKinstry while he was charging a ground ball.

Royals right fielder Jac Caglianone is out on a play against Tigers third baseman Zach McKinstry in the seventh inning at Comerica Park.

McKinstry hobbled off the field, favoring his ankle and did not return for the eighth.

Manager AJ Hinch inserted Wenceel Perez into the game and shifted Kevin McGonigle from shortstop to third base and Javier Baez from center to short.

Perez ended up leading off the bottom of the eighth inning, batting in McKinstry's spot, and hitting a home run to right to break a 1-1 tie.
