TE target sets official visit with Florida State

Florida State has 2027 three-star tight end Joshua Pettigrew on its radar. The 6-foot-5, 229-pounder made his way to Tallahassee on Saturday after attending FSU's Junior Day in March.

Pettigrew, who is being recruited by tight ends coach Chris Thomsen, was able to witness the ninth spring practice and second spring scrimmage of the Seminoles. He has now locked in an official visit on the weekend of June 12, per Chris Nee of Noles247.

The fact that Pettigrew took a second trip to see Florida State within a month had to have some significance. He went into detail about why that was.

"Just to see how they practice, see how they use the tight ends really," Pettigrew said. "Because I wasn't able to make it to a game last year, so I wanted to see how they use them. They used them well.

"They use them everywhere. On the in-line, out wide, just everywhere really, and they get the ball to them when they are out there, too."

The Duke Blue Devils and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets also have official visits locked in with Pettigrew, and he's working on getting one set up with the LSU Tigers, which is the top school on his list. The other two schools, plus FSU, make up the top four in his recruitment, and Pettigrew mentioned where the Seminoles land in the hierarchy.

"I'd say two, two definitely," Pettigrew said.

The Houston County High School standout isn't listed on 247Sports composite rankings. However, Rivals' industry rankings have him as the No. 1,096 overall player, the No. 55 tight end, and the No. 119 prospect from Georgia.
