Dylan Day ejected for targeting in Miami vs FSU football game. See the video
Miami football player Dylan Day was ejected for targeting late in the Hurricanes' Week 6 game against Florida State.
With UM leading 28-3 and punting with about 13 minutes left in the fourth quarter, Day cracked his helmet into that of FSU punt returner Squirrel White. The play was reviewed for targeting, and the safety was ruled to have led with the crown of his helmet against a defenseless player.
Day was ejected for the remainder of the game and will also miss the first half of the Hurricanes' next game, which is Oct. 17 at Louisville.
Day is Miami's backup free safety. ABC reporter Holly Rowe said starting safety Jakobe Thomas was being treated for an injury but did return to play the following series. UM's other safety, Zachariah Poyser, was injured on FSU's first play of the drive.

Running downfield with 13:04 left in the fourth quarter, Miami punted from its own 30-yard line. FSU's Squirrel White received the punt at the Seminoles' 36 and was immediately decked by Day. A flag was not thrown on the play, but video assistance called in the review, and Day was called for targeting and was ejected.
