4 things the Aaron Rodgers injury could mean for the Steelers
Disaster struck for the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday when quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a wrist injury late in the first half against the Cincinnati Bengals. Fortunately, backup Mason Rudolph came in and played well in the second half and the Steelers ended up blowing out Cincinnati 34-12. We will know more later in the week as far as the extent of the injury but here are some things the injury could mean for Pittsburgh.
Backup receivers will get a shot
We already saw Roman Wilson get more snaps than Calvin Austin III last week and if Rudolph starts several games, he could see an even larger role since he’s the guy Rudolph is throwing to at practice everyday.
A greater emphasis on the run game
While we are confident that Rudolph can excel in this offense through the air, an extended absence by Rodgers could help the coaches see the value in feeding Jaylen Warren the football more.
Instant quarterback controversy
Make no mistake, if the Steelers win with Rudolph, there is going to be plenty of media buzz about making Rudolph the starter for the rest of the season.
Lots of second guessing by the fans
The signing of Rodgers was second-guessed by plenty of fans when it happened and if the team wins without him, this will only be amplified.
