Arizona Cardinals' offensive snap counts, observations in preseason finale vs. Raiders
In the Arizona Cardinals' 20-10 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, 21 players participated in at least one of the 56 offensive snaps.
How was the playing time divided up? Below are the snap counts for every player who got into the game on offense, grouped by position.
The first number after each name are the total snaps. The second is the percentage. Players in bold were starters.
Quarterbacks
- Clayton Tune (56/100)
- Did not play: Kyler Murray, Jacoby Brissett
When Tune had time to throw, he was fine, but that didn’t happen very often. He completed 12-of-20 passes for 83 yards and 53 were on three plays. His other nine completions totaled 30 yards. Tune was sacked five times, but did run for 47 on five attempts, including a 25-yard run.
Running backs
- Emari Demercado (16/29), Michael Carter (16/29), Bam Knight (14/25), DeeJay Dallas (10/18)
- Did not play: Trey Benson, James Conner
The Cardinals rushed for 210 yards on 28 attempts and 148 were on four plays: an explosive 67-yard touchdown by Knight, 38 by Carter, 25 by Tune and 18 by Demercado. The other 24 runs totaled 62 yards. There were only two yards in receptions by running backs. Demercado was 2-for-8 and Carter 1-for-minus 6.
Wide receivers
- Tejhaun Palmer (41/73), Bryson Green (30/54), Xavier Weaver (25/45), Nate McCollum (23/41),Andre Baccellia 15/27), Simi Fehoko (11/20)
- Did not play: Greg Dortch, Marvin Harrison Jr., Zay Jones, Michel Wilson
- Injured reserve: Trishton Jackson
Five receivers totaled 55 yards on eight receptions: Weaver 2-20, McCollum 2-17, Palmer 2-12, Fehoko 1-10 (touchdown) and Baccellia (1-minus 4).
Tight ends
- Josiah Deguara (45/80), Oscar Cardenas (28/50), Travis Vokolek (6/11)
- Did not play: Elijah Higgins, Trey McBride, Tip Reiman
Deguara made his presence felt and could earn a practice-squad spot unless the Cardinals keep four tight ends. He had a 26-yard reception and made a nice block on Knight’s touchdown run by sealing the edge.
Offensive linemen
- LT Jeremiah Byers (56/100), LG Royce Newman (56/100), C Sincere Haynesworth (56/100), RT Jake Curhan (46/82), RG Nick Leverett (39/70), G McClendon Curtis (17/30), RT Josh Fryar (10/18)
- Did not play: RG Isaiah Adams, T Kelvin Beachum, C/G/ Hayden Conner (injured), LT Paris Johnson Jr., LG Evan Brown, C Hjalte Froholdt, C/G Jon Gaines II, T Christian Jones (injured), T Roy Mbaeteka (international exemption), C Dohnovan West, RT Jonah Williams
- Active/PUP: G Will Hernandez
- Injured reserve: Valentin Senn
The only slight surprise was Fryar leaving the game after only 10 snaps. The question is whether the Cardinals will keep eight or nine linemen on the 53-man roster and what the injury status is for Jones and Conner. If Jones opens the season on injured reserve, Fryar could earn a roster spot. To be on the practice squad, he would have to clear waivers. Newman and Leverett are also in the mix.
