Sixers star Paul George releases statement in aftermath of suspension
The Philadelphia 76ers were hit with some shocking news on Saturday morning when the NBA announced that Paul George will be suspended for 25 games for violating the league's anti-drug policy. The 9-time All-Star was in the midst of a bounce back season with the Sixers, and this is a big blow to this group.
George is averaging 16.0 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.7 assists while shooting 42.4% from the floor and 38.2% from deep in 27 games while providing some elite defense on the floor. He was providing a difference for Philadelphia on either end and it's a big blow to this group.
In the aftermath of the announcement of his suspension, George released a statement to ESPN. He explained the medication he took was for his mental health and he took full responsibility for his mistake.

With George now suspended for a lengthy amount of time, one has to wonder if this changes things for the Sixers at Thursday's trade deadline.
