Arch Manning named semifinalist for Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award
Longhorns star Arch Manning could be adding to his trophy case. He has been named one of the 22 semifinalists for the 2025 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award. Each year the award is given to the player who defines Campbell's characteristics integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity. It is limited to players who were born in the state of Texas, attended a high school in Texas or attended a Texas junior college or university.
In the past, Texas has had good luck with this honor. Last season, Quinn Ewers and Gunnar Helm were semifinalists. The year before, Jonathan Brooks was named a finalist. Manning hopes to join Brooks when the list is trimmed in a few weeks.
Arch Manning has improved dramatically throughout the year. Experience matters.
He will be the Heisman favorite next year (again). So lethal with his legs.

During his first year as the starter, Manning led the Longhorns to a 9-3 regular season record. The New Orleans native completed 227-of-370 passes for 2,942 yards. He has also found the end zone 24 times and made an impact with his legs. On 83 carries, Manning recorded 244 yards and showed a talent for extending plays.
As Manning has recovered from a slow start, he has etched himself into the record books. The talented sophomore had three games this season with at least 300 passing yards and three touchdown passes without an interception. That is the most by a Longhorns QB since Major Applewhite 26 years ago.

While the Longhorns fell short of their ultimate goal, Manning showed he could hold his own in the SEC. He also battled adversity at the beginning of the season, which was full of ups and downs. Manning and the Longhorns eventually found their stride, nearly finishing with double-digit wins.
Over the next few weeks, the field for the Campbell Tyler Rose Award will continue to narrow, and the Longhorns hope to have a reason to celebrate.
