Rutgers Guard Kwabena Asamoah to Miss the Rest of the Season with Injury

Rutgers Star guard Kwabena Asamoah will miss the rest of the season due to surgery he had for a high ankle sprain, according to 247Sports’ Bobby Deren.
Asamoah, who chose to return to Rutgers for his fifth year, has played in 48 total games for the program. Unortantely due to the injury, he played his last game in a Scarlet Knight uniform as he is now out of eligibility. According to multiple reports, he is expected to make a full recovery and continue football training in January so that he is ready for the NFL Draft.
Asamoah achieved several notable accolades during his Rutgers career, including being named team captain in 2026, being an All-Big Ten honorable mention in 2024 and 2025, as well as earning second-team All-America by ESPN in 2025. He also cleared the way for three 1,000-yard rushers during his career, blocking for Kyle Monangai and Antwan Raymond, who rushed for over 1,000 yards in 2023, 2024, and 2025.
Through eight games of 2026, Asamoah played 498 snaps at right guard. Over that time, he allowed only three total pressures, which is tied for the fourth-fewest in the country among guards who have played at least 400 snaps. His list of consecutive starts was one of the longest on the team, as he started every game in 2024, 2025, and the first eight games in 2026.
With his college career now over, Asamoah will look to recover quickly and prepare for the NFL Draft.
In addition to Asamoah being ruled out for the season, star wide receiver KJ Duff has been ruled out for the Knights’ upcoming game against Wisconsin. His injury has been deemed a lower-body injury, but specifics have not been released. Last week, Duff left the game against Michigan early due to the injury. These two, combined with starting quarterback Dylan Lonergan being out for the game, mean that Rutgers will be taking on Wisconsin without several key pieces on offense.
