Fantasy Football Video: After monster game vs. Colts, is Travis Kelce back to elite TE status?

After 2025, the talk around the league was whether or not this was the end of the Kansas City Chiefs' reign over the NFL. Patrick Mahomes suffered a major knee injury late in the season and his status for the start of 2026 was up in the air. It was the first time since 2014 the Chiefs didn't make the postseason and the offense fell flat overall.

Well, Kansas City has proved all the haters wrong through two games in 2026. The Chiefs are fresh off a 33-30 OT win over the Colts on Sunday Night Football in Week 2. One player who we had all written off in fantasy football going into this season was TE Travis Kelce, who had been on a slow decline from 2023-2025.

On SNF, Kelce posted a monster 9-101-1 line for over 20 fantasy points, good for the TE1 overall in Week 2 in fantasy going into MNF. He hadn't had more than 100 receiving yards in a regular-season game since 2023, if you can believe it. Out to a hot start, Kelce was a topic of conversation for Matt Harmon on the latest episode of the Yahoo Fantasy Forecast.

It wasn't Rashee Rice. It wasn't Xavier Worthy. It was Kelce who was the "ace" in the passing game for the Chiefs vs. Indy, says Harmon. The veteran tight end already has two games with 60+ yards after the catch, better than he had in each of the 2024 and 2025 seasons combined, per Next Gen Stats.

Harmon joked that Kelce got in shape for his wedding and carried it over into the season. Kelce turning back the clock is pretty huge for fantasy managers who invested a mid-to-late-round pick in the tight end, who was being drafted around the 95th pick on average on Yahoo.
