Tommy Kahnle is finally getting his chance with the Boston Red Sox.

According to MassLive's Christopher Smith, the Red Sox are reportedly promoting Kahnle from Triple-A Worcester ahead of Thursday's game against the Baltimore Orioles.

It's about time.

The 36-year-old righty has been stellar in Triple-A, posting a 1.40 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP with 21 strikeouts in 19 1/3 innings for the WooSox. He opted out of his minor league contract earlier this week, so Boston promoted him to avoid losing him in free agency.

Kahnle has 11 seasons of Major League experience, most recently with the Detroit Tigers last year. Prior to joining Boston in March, he pitched for Israel in the World Baseball Classic.

The Red Sox will be Kahnle's sixth MLB team. In 436 2/3 career innings, he has a 3.61 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP and 17 saves.

Kahnle will look to give Boston's bullpen a boost in its series finale against the Orioles. The Red Sox are going for their first series win at Fenway Park in nearly two months.
